Central Arkansas experienced major losses at the wide receiver position after the ASUN Offensive Player of the Year WR Tyler Hudson announced his transfer to Louisville and All-Conference WR Lujuan Winningham took his talents to the next level. The Bears received a major boost as former Kansas wide receiver Majik Rector announced his transfer to Central Arkansas on social media Wednesday morning.

Rector was one of the top commitments for the Jayhawks in the Class of 2021 and was expected to play a large role in the offensive rebuild in Lawrence under head coach Lance Leipold. The 5-foot-9, 171-pound wide receiver was a consensus 3-star prospect out of Lancaster, TX and ranked as Top-200 wide receiver in the country. He helped lead Lancaster High School to the Texas State Playoffs after totaling 46 catches for 815 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns as a senior. Over his four seasons in high school Rector totaled 146 catches for 2,016 receiving yards, and 22 receiving touchdowns.

Rector was named a two-time MVP at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top-100 in Dallas. He announced his commitment to the Jayhawks over offers from Texas Tech, Tulane, and Bowling Green. At the 2019 Nike Opening Rector posted a 4.22 second shuttle and showed his explosive athleticism throughout the event.

The Bears will be led by Christian Richmond (342 yards & 6 TDs in 2021) and former Arkansas WR Jarrod Barnes who is coming off a redshirt season due to injury. Rector will bring much needed depth to the wide receiver room in 2022, but could find some playing time in the slot for the Bears throughout the season. He will have four years of eligibility at Central Arkansas and could be one of the future stars of an explosive offense for the Bears.

Central Arkansas prepares to open their 2022 season against #5 Missouri State on September 1st in one of the most anticipated out of conference games of the season.
